An interesting project in not only for a Grade A Listed Building, which is reputedly the oldest building in Stonehaven, with sections dating back to the late 1500's, but also within the heart of the conservation area of Stonehaven and equally important within the historic harbour of the town.
The building is owned by Aberdeenshire County Council and is leased to the Tolbooth Museum on the ground floor and the Tolbooth Restaurant (Cafe Boheme Ltd) on the first floor. The building was refurbished in 1963 and later again in 1975 when the building was turned into the museum. The first floor restaurant was created in the late 1970's and early 1980's, however with what appears to have been any formal permissions etc. The building was listed in 1972.
The project was to achieve a regularisation for the restaurant in relation to some internal works which had taken place earlier in the year. This involved DP Arch completing survey works for the property and the preparation of drawings and a Design & Heritage Significance Statement, which supported the sensitive works to the interior of the Listed property.
The Project was for a Listed Building and Building Warrant Application gaining full approvals in November 2023.
